The wedding clothes are ready. The invitations have been picked out. The date is still up in the air. That is the situation for hundreds of same-sex couples in New Jersey as they await for the state Supreme Court to decide if they can say "I do".

Social conservatives in the state also are bracing for the outcome of the case. Political action groups and politicians say if the court allows same-sex marriage they will push for an amendment to the New Jersey constitution to thwart gay nuptials.
